Ironically… today.
When I woke up this morning, I wasn’t planning to write.
I was hurting. I’d spent part of the day crying, sleeping, and questioning myself after a difficult conversation. The easiest thing would have been to close my laptop and tell myself, “Maybe tomorrow.”
But a dear friend encouraged me to write anyway.
My gut whispered, Pick up the computer.
So I did.
What followed wasn’t just another blog post.
It became one of the most honest things I’ve ever written.
As I wrote, I realized that the pain I was feeling wasn’t only about today. It was awakening an old story I’d been carrying for years. By the time I reached the end of the essay, I found myself writing words I didn’t even know I needed:
“I believe you.”
“I’m not leaving you anymore.”
Sometimes following your gut doesn’t lead you to a new place.
Sometimes it leads you back to yourself.
Today reminded me that our instincts aren’t always trying to help us avoid pain. Sometimes they’re gently inviting us to sit with it long enough to discover something true.
I’m grateful I listened.
